Thermocable and Apollo Partner with Heart Research UK to Drive Community Health Forward

Thermocable and Apollo Fire Detectors, both part of the Halma group of life-saving technology companies, are proud to announce a new partnership with Heart Research UK through Halma’s Impact the Future Fund. We’re excited to share this news on World Heart Day; the global movement to reflect on cardiovascular health and take action to prevent heart disease.

A Shared Vision for a Healthier Future

Heart Research UK was selected as the recipient of a £30,000 grant from Halma’s Impact the Future Fund, following a competitive application process. The charity’s mission—to prevent deaths from heart disease through pioneering medical research and community health initiatives—resonates deeply with Halma’s commitment to growing a safer, cleaner, and healthier future for everyone, every day.

The partnership will see Thermocable and Apollo working closely with Heart Research UK over the next year, supporting their nationwide health check programme. This initiative will deliver free heart health screenings in community centres, focusing on blood pressure, cholesterol, and body composition, alongside tailored lifestyle advice and referrals.

Why This Matters: The Heartbreaking Statistics

  • Heart disease affects 1 in 4 people in the UK
  • It causes twice as many deaths in women as breast cancer, and four times as many in men as prostate cancer
  • Every 5 minutes, someone dies from heart disease in the UK
  • An estimated 100,000 deaths per year are preventable

These figures underscore the urgency of Heart Research UK’s work—and the importance of corporate partnerships that amplify their impact.

Beyond Funding: Volunteering and Engagement

While the grant provides vital financial support, the partnership goes far beyond monetary contributions. Thermocable and Apollo employees will have opportunities to volunteer, participate in fundraising events, and engage directly with Heart Research UK’s mission. Plans are already underway for joint activities, following our incredible Dragon Boat Race challenge over summer.

A webinar hosted by Heart Research UK is also in development, offering Thermocable and Apollo teams a deeper understanding of the charity’s work and impact. This event will be open to all employees, with both in-person and virtual attendance options.

Building Long-Term Impact

This partnership is part of a broader strategy by Halma to foster meaningful, long-term relationships between its operating companies and selected charities. As champions of Heart Research UK, Thermocable and Apollo are committed to setting clear goals, maintaining regular communication, and measuring the impact of their support throughout the year.

The collaboration reflects the values at the heart of Thermocable and Apollo—protecting people and their environments, not just through innovative fire detection technologies, but through active engagement in public health and wellbeing.

“leading the charge against heart diseases...until there are no more deaths from heart disease."
